Pass Shadows II"
one winter i was snowshoeing up on independence pass. going up the valley on the east side this old cabin sits frozen in time. i've said before that i'm not very interested in "little cabin in the big woods" paintings. so rather than painting the whole cabin with the mountains in the background, i moved around the structure and found this corner with the snow drifted around it.
i really like the contrast between the coarse wood and the smooth snow, shadows and light, the man made object and nature. to me this painting embodies what colorado is all about.
