I love this image not only because of how well it works, but also because it taught me an important lesson about the images I paint, that being to resist going out to find specific images. Obviously, I paint a certain type of landscape, but everything works better if I just choose to go to an area and allow the subjects to present themselves. This painting of North Cheyenne Canon Creek is an image like that. One which I just happened upon as I came down the trail after visiting Split Rock.
